Funerals

In the face of death, the Church confidently proclaims that God has created each person for eternal life. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, by His passion and death, resurrection from the dead and His glorious ascension into Heaven has broken the chains of sin and death that bound humanity.

At the death of a Christian, whose life of faith was begun in the waters of Baptism and strengthened by the Holy Eucharist, the Church prays for that person confident that death is not the end, nor do the bonds of love and affection that we experience in our earthly life unravel.

When a person or family suffer the loss of a loved one, the Church supports them with the Ministry of Consolation, through the Word of God and through the Holy Sacraments. They are consoled in their bereavement in the Funeral Rites of the Church.
